Um dos maiores frontmans da história,Elton John com sua voz poderosa conquista o público pop e rock desde os anos 60.irei colocar um Prólogo da Wikipédia para explicar melhor a carreira deste astro da música.

WIKIPÉDIA

       Ainda na adolescência, no início dos anos 60, integrou o grupo de blues Bluesology. Em 1967, já não participando mais da banda, estabeleceu parceria com o letrista Bernie Taupin, com quem lançou grande parte de sua obra musical, mantendo-se a parceria até os dias de hoje. Adotou nessa época o nome artístico de Elton John, inspirado nos nomes de dois integrantes da Bluesology, Elton Dean (saxofonista) e Long John Baldry (líder). 

    Apesar de ter lançado o disco Empty Sky em 1969, que não trazia em seu repertório nenhum sucesso imediato, sua carreira deu uma guinada com o lançamento do disco Elton John, de 1970, que o lançou como cantor de sucesso nos Estados Unidos e trouxe ao público um de seus maiores sucessos, a canção "Your Song".

    Em 1972, Elton John lança a canção "Crocodile Rock", composta com Bernie Taupin no estúdio francês Château d'Hérouville. Neste mesmo ano, lançou o álbum Honky Château, com a canção Rocket Man, também composta em parceria com Taupin.

    Depois de Honky Château, o cantor lançou os álbuns Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (1973) e Captain Fantastic and The Brown Dirt Cowboy (1975), seus discos mais bem colocados no ranking de melhores discos do século XX elaborado pela revista Rolling Stone.

   Sua carreira atravessa quase cinco décadas de ininterrupto sucesso. Nos anos setenta, época que muitos consideram como sendo o auge da sua carreira (foi considerado o segundo artista mais importante dessa década, superado apenas por Paul McCartney), já podia ser considerado como um dos maiores cantores de rock do planeta.

    Além de Bernie Taupin, outros letristas trabalharam com Elton, entre os quais Gary Osborne e Tim Rice. Enquanto a parceria com o primeiro está presente nos discos A Single Man, 21 at 33, The Fox, Jump Up! e Leather Jackets, o trabalho com o segundo, iniciado com a música "Legal Boys", de 1982, resultou, anos depois, na trilha sonora dos filmes O Rei Leão (1994), pela qual Elton ganhou o Oscar de melhor canção original por "Can You Feel the Love Tonight", e O Caminho para El Dorado (2001).

Elton John manteve-se em evidência na década de 1980, época em que lançou um álbum inédito por ano, levando ao público hits como "I Guess That's Why They Call It the Blues", "I'm Still Standing", "Sacrifice", "Nikita" e diversos outros.

   Em janeiro de 1987, submeteu-se a uma intervenção cirúrgica na garganta, depois de ter sido diagnosticado com pequenos pólipos nas suas cordas vocais, que lhe causavam dores, levando ao cancelamento da turnê Tour De Force na Austrália no final de 1986. Segundo a revista Rolling Stone, o problema na sua garganta foi causado pelo uso descontrolado de cocaína e álcool. Depois dessa cirurgia, sua voz teria sofrido uma diminuição na altura (pitch). 

   Embora tenha diminuído o ritmo de lançamento de novos discos, Elton John permaneceu em evidência na década de 1990, lançando canções de sucesso como "Can You Feel the Love Tonight", "Something About The Way You Look Tonight", "Blessed" e o álbum The One. Nos últimos anos, compôs o musical Aida, um enorme sucesso da Broadway, lhe rendendo um Tony Award de Melhor Trilha Sonora Original. Também compôs canções para os filmes Billy Eliot, outro sucesso da Broadway, e Lestat, que ficou em cartaz em 2006.

     Em 1992, Elton cantou com a banda Queen a música "The Show Must Go On" no Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert. Neste mesmo concerto, também cantou, em homenagem a Freddie Mercury, a música "Bohemian Rhapsody", junto com Axl Rose e os outros integrantes do Queen.

   É o único artista que até hoje conseguiu obter seis lançamentos consecutivos no primeiro lugar da Billboard, sendo detentor, ademais, do recorde de single de maior vendagem da história, com a adaptação feita em 1997 da canção "Candle in the Wind" em homenagem à Princesa Diana, com quem tinha uma grande amizade. O single totalizou quarenta milhões de cópias vendidas.

     Em 2007, Elton John comemorou seu aniversário de sessenta anos, realizando seu sexagésimo show no Madison Square Garden, em Nova York. O discurso de abertura do espetáculo foi feito pelo ex-presidente dos Estados Unidos, Bill Clinton.

Em 2008, foi escolhido pela Billboard como o cantor solo de maior sucesso da história.

     Em 2009, Elton John aceitou o convite de Jerry Cantrell para se juntar a sua banda Alice in Chains e prestar homenagem ao falecido vocalista Layne Staley, tocando piano em "Black Gives Way to Blue", a faixa-título e música de encerramento do primeiro álbum da banda em 14 anos, lançado em 29 de Setembro de 2009 A música foi escrita e interpretada por Cantrell, que a descreveu como o adeus da banda para Staley.O primeiro show que Staley assistiu foi o de Elton John 

Em janeiro de 2018, Elton John anunciou que iria retirar-se dos palcos, com uma última turnê, intitulada Farewell Yellow Brick Road, realizando trezentos shows por todo o mundo até 2021. A turnê teve início em 8 de setembro de 2018 nos Estados Unidos, na cidade de Allentown, Pensilvânia.
